Books in Homes

A Glencore Ernest Henry Mine Partnership

Books in Homes Australia’s vision is to re-awaken a sense of wonder and excitement  in children and their parents, by creating an Australia where every child and family has access to books-of-choice at home. Thanks to the invaluable partnership between Books in Homes Australia and Glencore, students from Prep to Year 8 have the opportunity to receive three free books, three times a year. Students love browsing the brochure and picking which books they would like to receive. At the end of the school term, representatives from Glencore’s Ernest Henry Mine are welcomed into the classroom and hand the books to the students in their very own bag. This initiative reflects our school’s reading program ‘Read to Learn, Learn to Read’.
  • A house without books is like a room without windows. —Heinrich Mann
  • So it is with children who learn to read fluently and well: They begin to take flight into whole new worlds as effortlessly as young birds take to the sky. —William James
  • There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all. —Jacqueline Kennedy
