Year 11 and 12 students at Cloncurry State School P–12 have the opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Tourism, which includes a theory component completed at school and practical component which is completed at the Gold Coast.
Students can elect to use their Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) funding towards this qualification. Whilst at the Gold Coast, students have the opportunity to visit Movie World and Dreamworld. They also participate in surfing lessons, beach activities, team building activities, archery and ice skating, to name a few. There is also time for a little bit of shopping at Pacific Fair. This opportunity is available to students every second year through Career Training Institute of Australia (CTIA).
