At Cloncurry State School P-12 we are committed to making inclusive education real for all our students with disability. Inclusion is embedded in all aspects of school life, and is supported by culture, policies and everyday practices.
Students with Disability are defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) and are included in our National Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
All students have the right to a quality learning experience at our school. Students with disability are able to take part in education without discrimination and on the same basis as other students. To ensure this our school makes reasonable adjustments if needed for students with disability. An adjustment is an action to help a student with disability take part in education. Adjustments can be made across the whole school. They can be in the classroom. They can also be for individual student needs. At Cloncurry the needs of each student with disability are assessed and adjustments are provided in consultation with the student and/or their guardians and carers. These adjustments are documented in the students Personalised Learning Record or as an Individual Curriculum Plan where needed.
Head of Inclusive Practices
The Head of Inclusive Practices works with teachers and students with disability to ensure that reasonable adjustments are embedded in daily practices. All students with disability have a Personalised Learning record which the Head of Inclusive Practices along with visiting specialists and classroom teacher work together on. Teacher aides may also work with students to provide additional support.
